1.
What are the different types of
modeling?
FASHION:
These are the models that work the runway in fashion shows, help with
fittings
for designers, and appear in various forms of print and electronic
media for WEARABLE items such as clothing, make-up, hair care, fragrances,
and eyewear. These models must fit certain industry standard requirements,
although there are exceptions. Plus-sized models (sizes 10-20) and
models in a “teen” category have somewhat different requirements
than standard models. Fitness models rely strongly upon greatly-conditioned
bodies.
COMMERCIAL:
This huge category includes not only tv
commercials
for models and actors, but also all forms of print advertising where
people are endorsing USABLE rather than wearable products. Commercial
models aren't always size-specific, but they need to develop a confident,
expressive and attractive image to make them approachable to the general
public for endorsements. Parts modeling (modeling one’s legs,
hands, eyes etc.) is a sub-category of commercial modeling.
PROMOTIONAL:
This type of modeling involves bookings ranging from handing out free
samples to staffing trade show booths at conventions. Promotional
modeling rarely requires photography, but relies heavily on a great
personality and strong communication skills.
2.
What age groups do you represent,
and what types of modeling do you handle?
Model Team LLC represents models ages 5 and up (NO babies), and we
handle print,
runway,
fittings, t.v. and film, stage, trade shows, promotional events and
fundraisers for such charities as Easter Seals, A Time for Me, Trenton
Area Soup Kitchen, and the Make-a-Wish Foundation to name a few. We
work with parents to make sure each and every project is appropriate
for their child, and school must be a priority as well.

3.
Are you licensed?
Yes!
Our license number is BWO287200.
4.
How do you find your models?
Most
models we work with learn about us by word-of-mouth and personal referral.
They know models we have already been booking
in
print and t.v. Many models and parents have seen features about us
in magazines, t.v. and newspapers as well. We also hold open calls
for new models twice a year for several weeks (by appointment) when
no experience is necessary. Otherwise, models send us recent non-returnable
snapshots, and if we are interested we will call them (or their parents
if the model is under 18) for a free modeling evaluation.

5.
How should I prepare for my Model
Team appointment?
Get
some rest the night before, and plan ahead to be ON TIME that day!
Wear your hair away from your face, and wear clothing that shows your
real shape--nothing too baggy!
Clean,
casual “first day of school” clothes are fine. Natural,
corrective make-up is ok for older models, but no make-up for kids!
Know your measurements and contact info, and prepare to tell us a
little about yourself in an upbeat way. Bring any snapshots you’d
like us to see, but a full portfolio isn't necessary now. Parents
can watch their kids audition through a window, too. Many times we
prefer NOT to make decisions about models on the same day, so we will
contact you later if you get a callback.
6.
What do you look for?
Look
at anyone working successfully in print, stage, t.v., film, and runway!
We look for
the
special qualities they have because they are already working...and
we want our models to work! Add to that a timely look, responsibility,
diligence, humility, a sense of humor, a healthy attitude towards
rejection, family support, some availability, and an overall positive
individuality, and you might have a shot! Of course the desire to
model and the realistic view of how to improve yourself for this business
are paramount.

7.
Do you accept everybody?
Absolutely
NOT! We look for the BEST, and everyone else can have the REST! We
look for people who can be developed into what our clients realistically
want to hire. We have been in the same location with the same name,
license and quality since 1991, and we take our reputation quite seriously.
8. I have
the most gorgeous child on the East Coast. Can you guarantee him/her
work?
No
model management firm in New Jersey can or should guarantee work.
This is to protect both the model management firm as well as the model,
especially if the model isn't always available for auditions! It is
also the parent/model’s responsibility to keep up-to-date on
all permits as well once you start modeling. And let’s face
it-there’s a lot more to this business than just being gorgeous!
Our goal is to keep our models as busy as possible on all appropriate
auditions and booking as they want to be-but it requires time, energy
and the right temperament for both parent & child.
9. Are their
any costs in modeling?
Our
modeling evaluations are completely free and there is no cost to register
with our
agency,
if accepted. You as a model only pay commission on jobs you book.
If you choose to invest in your career, there are optional expenses
such as modeling consultations, portfolios and composite cards which
vary in price, and are at your discretion. Of course every model management
firm wants its models to develop a competitive edge by using the tools
of the trade, thereby creating strong, confident, successful people!
If you’d like more information about our consultations see our
services section. Check with your entertainment accountant to see
which expenses could be deducted from eventual modeling earnings--after
all, you are opening up your own business!
